The Karmeliet Tripel
The Karmeliet Tripel Brussels Reviews
Tripel Karmeliet Dec 06, 2008
One of the joys of staying in Belgium is their fantastic beers which are something special. The number of beers and the magnitude of differences are almost not understandable. I will from now on try to give some of my experience with this wonderful product.
In an old book on locale brewing traditions it was detected that the Karmelit brothers brewed a beer with 3 different grains; oats barley and wheat. The Brouwerij Boostels in Buggenhout have revoked this tradition and created a wonderful beer. The small brewery Bosteels, is also the makers of Kwak and Deus.
This Belgian Abbey Style Tripel ale has a beautiful colour that varies between golden and bronze, but since the beer is fermented the last time in the bottle it can have an unclear colour. The beer has a robust smooth, fruity character. The beer is brewed with pride and patience after the Carmeliet tradition with a recipe from the ancient Carmes de Termonde cloister, dating back as far as 1679: it is a 100% natural beer
