A Great Way to See Amsterdam Mar 21, 2010
For many travelers to Amsterdam, especially new visitors the "I Amsterdam" Card can be a great way to pack in many things within a few days. They do offer a 24, 48, and 72 hours on the card. Basically once you activated it is good for the time duration that you select. You can pay for it ahead of time and present it at the tourist information to get you packet or you can purchase it when you arrive. I've gotten these cards on several trips and always got it before I went over there.

Now for some season travelers to Amsterdam this may not be suitable. You have to figure out what your needs and wants are then figure if it is a value for you.

The main thing is the use of the tram and bus. If you are going to stay close to where you are staying this is not a value and it would be better to get the local Strippenkart.

Some of the features of the I amsterdam card are free entrance or discounts to many of the museums, some free or discounts for food and drinks, a canal ride, etc...

On my trip this year. I will be in Amsterdam for 3 nights at the beginning and 2 nights at the end of my trip. The first segment I have many things plan and will skip this card but will get it for the 2 nights at the end.
With the "Card" there are several …
include a canal cruise ride
Garden to the Rijks

Amsterdam was my favorite city until I discovered Chiang Mai. I remember passing the Hermitage but didn't know of it. I looked on google and I am impressed with the work they do with children. Thanks for mentioning it.

Amsterdam is my favorite city but I never know if the IAM card is a value or not. My next trip I will go to the museums so it will be worth while. Have you gone to the Hermitage? That will be one of my stops in Sept.
