The Honch

You don't have to have access to top secret files to know ship movements, just go to the Honch and you'll get an idea of whose going/coming.

Even when most of the ships are home, it's not exactly a hopping place, compared to the nearby Yokohama or Tokyo. When most of the ships are out, get ready for a snooze-fest. You'll see the same 20 people over and over again all along the strip. The only Japanese you'll likely see are the bar owners and women looking for men. Drinks here are no cheaper than in Tokyo or Yokohama, and the military police are all over the place.

Not that I'm encouraging breaking the SOFA agreement or anything, but if you really want to party, or drink in peace without seeing people you work with/see everyday/the police, I suggest paying for the train ride and heading into Tokyo or Yokohama. If you only want a drink or two and then head home, hit up some one of the "off-honch" bars along the "Blue-Street" or the main road in front of base.

But if you want to hang out with all the military people and feel like you're back in Norfolk, VA, (or if you're a Japanese girl really wanting an American boyfriend) then you might enjoy the Honch...

If your in Yokosuka for sometime, then the Honch is a covinent place to go. It's right out side of the main gate. There are bars with everytype of music. Georges plays country and it has a pool table and darts. You can also break out the beer pong table. Across the street is Rock City, it's not bad, just a little small. And of course they play rock. Buffalo's is a good one, they play all kinds of Rock and Alternative. Budwisers is a further away, but a good place to sing Karokee. There are a lot more bars on this one strip, but I haven't really rentured to them.
