In the Rijnstraat they discovered a lot of connected cellars. The most of them are cellars of the middle ages. This is very unique!
A walk in the cellars will take about 1 hour and 15 minutes. (you can also extend your guided tour with a walk through the city(voluntary workers, you could ask for Henk from The Carnavalsclub de Zotskappen, he is very nice, but his english is not very good!!).
The guide showed us also the Luxor Theatre as an extra gift and the Burger Weeshuis!
And i really can recommend this tour! this is rather unique in Holland. The total length of the cellars in Arnhem is about 2000 m2. But not every cellar is connected to the ones we can visit. The cellars are huge, big enough to hide 700 people in it. This is what they did during the war. Now it is able to rent this place for a special event, like a wedding or reception. But it is expensive! But worth it!
A very sad message in the newspaper yesterday. They will not proceed in guided tours. It is too expensive because the cellars have to be heated and so on. So those who have seen these cellars are lucky.
