The Herkimer

This is a great little brewpub in the lynlake area of uptown. Yes, they brew all their beer! All the beers on tap are their German style lagers. I've sampled most of them and I always go back to the Red Flyer Marzen-delicious! It has deep red color and is their version of an Oktoberfest. Malty with a little sweet thrown in and this beer is easily drinkable They also have great food on the menu. Two of my faves are the sweet potato fries and the chicken wild rice soup. I'm a sucker for chicken wild rice soup and this is definitely one of the best I've had so far. The little shoestring sweet potato fries are beyond tasty with their accompanying chipotle sauce! The staff here are always more than friendly and willing to help explain their brews. They also run daily specials so it's easy to go in and get some cheap eats. If you get bored sitting at the bar they've got a shuffleboard tucked in the back. Herkimer's is always entertaining and great for people watching!
