The Grist Mill Restaurant Jun 01, 2010
Spring, summer, and fall are not the time to visit Killington, Vermont. We found this out the hard way. In trying to add some extra miles today we ended up here where the winter ski resort must flourish. But at this time of year only this restaurant was open for business and it was a very expensive place with a large cocktail lounge. We were taken to any table we wanted by the hostess, as we were the only customers in the restaurant. We don’t eat big meals and consider ourselves pretty conservative. But the prices for dinner here made us wince. We shared a pasta seafood meal that included shrimp, clams, mussels and scallops. But it was all cooked and served with the shells and skin on which meant getting cream sauce everywhere as you removed the meat from the shells. The taste was bland and uninspired. The waitress did not offer refills on our drinks. She was too busy in the lounge, drinking! Do you get in impression that we were not thrilled?
