The Greyfriars Bobby Edinburgh Reviews
Greyfriars Bobby - A small dog with a big heart Oct 14, 2011
Bobby, a little Skye terrrier, belonged to an Edinburgh policeman, Jock Gray. Jock died in 1858 and Bobby followed the funeral procession to the graveyard at Greyfriars Church. Loyal to the last, Bobby stayed at his master's grave after that. He was adopted by the locals, became an Edinburgh folk hero, and when he died 14 years later, special dispensation was given for Bobby to be buried alongside Jock.
A statue was erected in Bobby's honor and he got a Pub named after him. His collar and bowl can be seen at the Museum of Edinburgh. Walt Disney Productiöns made a film about Bobby in 1961.
The Adventures of Greyfriars Bobby, 2005, directed by John Henderson, is an other film telling the story about Bobby.
