nice small live music venue on the quays, formerly known as 'Pravda' Dec 22, 2010
This might be in your guidebook under the name 'Pravda' a czech themed pub that used to operate on this premises. The Grand Social has kept many of the old features downstairs (good beer, for example), and converted the small but nicely intimate loft into a good live music venue. The owners are particularly good at getting interesting alternative acts in here - one good example recently has been the Icelandic group 'Amiina' who played to a packed house. The venue's also part of the 'Hard Working Class Heroes' festival, which takes place in September, and hosts regular live events with Dublin bands performing (most weekend nights).

The main draw is in the atmosphere and the array of artwork on the walls, as well as being in a nice central location. It's a great stop off between shopping streets, and makes a nice modern aside from the string of pseudo-traditional pubs you tend to find around the other side of the river. It's a personal favorite of mine, well worth a look and a nice friendly way to pass a few hours.
