The Australian owned and operated G'day Mate is a great bar and guest house on Ekareach Street in downtown Sihanoukville - next door to the well-marked Oasis Hotel. Its location is close to banks, convenience stores, the main market, and the bus terminal. Its setting and décor is pure Australian and provides a laid-back atmosphere, wide screen TV, pool table, and great music.

Upstairs fan or air-conditioned rooms with cable TV and fridge range from US$5 to $10. The popular ground-level, full service bar is open 24/7 and offers great tucker (that's Australian for food, mate) and drink at very reasonable prices. The best western breakfast that I found in town is by far their Big Breky: eggs to order, bacon, a snag (Australian sausage), hash-browns, fried tomato and onion, toast, and a bottomless cup of great coffee - cost, US$3.

Mick also serves up the best burger in town as well as a wide range of western and Khmer dishes. He or his friendly and knowledgeable staff (including identical twins) can provide travel arrangements, transport to Kampot by private mini-van, or group outings. The G'day Mate is well established and well-run, making for an excellent stop or stay in Sihanoukville.
