walking trough barcelona searching for gaudi- casa batllo Jul 19, 2008
I recived that book from my friend a years ago, and i know that some day i will go to see what was that man do.
...........Antoni Plàcid Guillem Gaudí i Cornet...........
"Gaudí, throughout his life, studied nature's angles and curves and incorporated them into his designs. Instead of relying on geometric shapes, he mimicked the way men stand upright. The hyperboloids and paraboloids he borrowed from nature were easily reinforced by steel rods and allowed his designs to resemble elements from the environment." [wikipedia]

When you siting on some of his benches or you walk trough house which he is designed, you feel like an insect in marvelous world of giant flowers and beautiful shells. You have to go there and touch that walls. It is magic place on Earth made by hands of men.

"Casa Batlló is a building restored by Antoni Gaudí and Josep Maria Jujol, built in the year 1877 and remodelled in the years 1905–1907. The local name for the building is Casa dels ossos (House of Bones), and indeed it does have a visceral, skeletal organic quality. It was originally designed for a middle-class family and situated in a prosperous district of Barcelona." [wikipedia]

I would guess that Sagrada Familia is on your list already, but a visit to two other Gaudi sites are well worth a few hours in Barcelona.

Parc Guell is a great place to people watch and to see the amazing architecture of Gaudi. Its sort of a hike to get there, but well worth the effort. Plus, its free.

Casa Mila is an apartment building that Gaudi designed and has great exhibits about him and his style, make sure you go all the way up to the roof.

Enjoy Barcelona, its a great city.

We arrived early on a Sunday morning and took a shuttle from the Barcelona airport to the Hotel Silken Diagonal.  The hotel was ultra modern and was located on Avinguda Diagonal right next to the bullet shaped Torre Agbar.  It was eas…tour was called "Artistic Barcelona" and mostly featured the works of Antoni Gaudi.  The tour pointed out several apartment buildings and made stops at Parc Guell, Segrada Familia, and Estacia Franca.  When we got back to the hotel, jet lag finally got to us and we retired… Barcelona

I must say that I am enjoying the atmosphere here m…Oxford, so for now, you'll have to settle for the teasers. The forecast for tomorrow includes a walking tour of Gaudi's architecture and a guitar and orchestra concert in the evening, so it's sure to be a long day. So long for now!  … Day 1 in Barcelona

With Andrew navigating, we somehow miss the A246 which will take us to an area that we know will have camping and local transport into the city.  Find ourselves driving right through the middle of Barcelona on a Monday afternoon public holiday …tour bus which takes about 2 1/2 hours to see the sights.  Many of Gaudi's buildings are featured on the tour and they remind me of Alice in Wonderland type of thing.  Turrets and wiggly shapes.  To end our day in the city… A flat welcome
