The Galley (Seafood) Apr 26, 2011
One of the city's best neighborhood seafood restaurants, the Galley is my first pick for boiled seafood in particular. They serve it hot, and are somehow able to offer boiled crabs and crawfish when nobody else in town has them. The fried platters are first-class.

Preparing almost everything to order makes a big difference. The kitchen is more or less in your face, the better to observe the fast movement of everything. A few more tables are set in a covered, outdoor seating area in front.

My favorites:

Seafood gumbo

Any other soup

Boiled shrimp, crabs, or crawfish

Crabmeat salad

Spicy meat pies

Spicy crawfish pies

Fried seafood platters or sandwiches

Grilled fish of the day

Pecan catfish

Bread pudding
