Um, kind of a wierd place, but it supports the arts in a variety of ways...wanna try something new, go here. Aug 22, 2010
This place has only been here since 2009 and if you don't know how to look for it, you'll be wandering around the Barracks, just walking up and down 8th street. Once you stand in front of matchbox, corss the street, and walk into the ally, it will be on your left.

The Fridge is an art gallery, a performance space, a music forum and a classroom. The goal is to have a place for creativity and community dialogue "by serving as a conduit for expression through the arts and providing exhibition space to emerging and established artists". They showcase art DC youth and local artists.

You have to check the website for specific events. The night I went, there was a girl doing body paint, another fellow was making T-shirts, a third artists was playing the drums, another the flute, there was art on the walls and someone else was raising funds to make a movie.

It was something different, but it was a little too wierd for me to return-I can say I went once, but you might enjoy it more than me.
