Nightlife comes to Freeport village Jul 11, 2008
Freeport, the premier shopping destination of beautiful Maine, has a proper night-time venue at last.
As a native Irishman I'm not a great fan of pubs/bars that are really restaurants with a bar tacked on. Give me a genuine bar, purpose built for the imbibing arts, where good conversation flows like Guinness down a navvy's gullet. So it was with great joy that I discovered The Freeport Cabaret, a recently opened venue that offers a real bar experience with very passable draft Guinness (I'm sure the barman will have learnt how to pull a pint of Guinness next time I visit). Located a 100 yards or so from LL Bean's ever-open emporium, The Freeport Cabaret is a classy but friendly venue offering live music, a piano bar and appetisers. So I'd class it as a real bar with a food option. It's a bit hard to find, located in what looks like an office suite, but well worth tracking down. Well after all it is in Maine, the hunting capital of New England. Slainte! |
