The Flint Hills are a part of the last remaining natural regions of the tallgrass prairie. The area extends from Marshall County to Cowley County, KS. Because of the rocky landscape, due to limestone deposits, this land was not cultivated for crops. It is great for ranching and the land looks much the same as it did thousands of years ago. Landowners seasonally burn the grassland to control the growth of non-native plants. It is an amazing sight!

Because touring this area is free I highly recommend it! This area is unique in layout and the view is fabulous. If you thought Kansas was flat then you will be pleasantly disappointed!
