We have some excellent golf courses nearby, and the local government is in the process of building a false beach just 2 kilometers from the hotel, (due to finish in 2009). Udon Thani makes for an excellent hub for those wanting to see the real Thailand, within a 100 kilometer radius you are spoiled with natural beauty sites, temples and great archaeological sites. Including the world heritage site for the prehistoric culture of Ban Chiang. Udon Thani is probably best known for its archaeological wonders, the hamlet of Ban Chiang is where the the world's first Bronze Age civilization is believed to have flourished more than 5,000 years ago. Udon Thani borders Nong Khai to the north, Khon Kaen to the south, Sakon Nakhon to the east and Nongbualamphu and Loei to the west. Most of its areas are covered with rice fields, forests and hills, with the Phu Pan mountain ranges and the Songkhram River are the provinces two main natural resources. Udon Thani is an excellent location to stop off before making the leap in Laos and Vientiene (situated a further 50 kilometers to the North). You can get here by bus, train or airplane. 3 airlines service Udon Thani airport; AirAsia, Nok Air and Thai Airways. Buses are frequent but the journey takes approx. 9hrs from Bangkok as does the train. AirAsia is at present the only airline flying from the new airport to Udon Thani, and is also the cheapest of the three.
