Great place Sep 09, 2011
This is the place to stay at. Great attention + accomodation, nice beds, it has hammocks on the hall ways and in the center like a little plaza it has a swimming pool. Nice bar, friendly people, couches and a TV to relax, pool table and most of all, this place has a fun environment. It's not in the heart of the city but stayin a few blocks away to stay here is worth it.

Best Hostel in Colombia and South America Mar 20, 2011
This is the Best Hostel in South America. It was started by 2 Italians and it is located in Santa Marta Colombia. Great place to stay and meet people from all over the world ages 18 - 35. They have something going on every day. This hostel is its own little world.

Cheers!

Best Hostel in Colombia Dec 30, 2010
Finding a great hostel can be a challenge. With so many hostels out there trying to pick the right one can be a daunting task, particularly if you have never been to the area before. If you are traveling to Santa Marta, allow me to make the decision easier for you. This hostel is far and above the best in the city.

The Dreamer hostel is about a five to ten minute taxi ride away from the "touristy" part of Santa Marta. It's in a quite neighborhood and a five minute walk to the biggest shopping complex in Santa Marta which houses a mall, cinema, and grocery store. Across the street is a basketball/soccer court. This makes for great fun in the evenings when many of the local teenagers and young adults are out playing soccer and you can join in on the action.

The hostel is surprisingly well equipped. The entire hostel has an open-air feel. There is free wi-fi, desktop computers, a tv room, moderately equipped bar, restaurant, kitchen with refrigerator, and last but not least, a pool. Something that is hard to come by in a hostel. Sure it's not the biggest pool in the world but it's the perfect way to cool down after a day in the Santa Marta heat. The entire court yard is lined with hammocks which are great for an afternoon nap before a long night out.

The hostel has the typical variety of rooms. The dorms are simple and clean. The private rooms (the one I stayed in at least), had a ceiling fan. Something not typical for hostels in South America. There are two large gender specific bathrooms complete with multiple showers. The showers do not have hot water but it's really not necessary with how hot Santa Marta is.

Perhaps the best part of the hostel is the staff. They do a great job at arranging daily activities and nights out on the town. They are extremely helpful and will help you with anything you need during your stay in Santa Marta. This includes helping you book trips to nearby Parque Tayronna, and Ciudad Perdida.

All in all this was one of the best hostel experiences I have ever had. It has all the right things plus a few unexpected extras. If you are planning a trip to Santa Marta I couldn't recommend this place enough. Hands down the best place to stay in the city.
