Drink Mill Street Beer brewed on premises, eat at any of the 6 restraunts, listen to live bands on the outside stage(s), smoke shisha/sheesha from a hookah and relax.

Simply said - The Distillery District is an amazing place to tour some of Toroto's rich history, eat, drink, go to the spa, shop, and see a festival or special event happening in the city. Depending on your travel dates you can find out what's happening here: http://www.thedistillerydistrict.com/festivals.html

HISTORY

1831 - James Worts established a grist mill.
1837 - Whiskey Production begins
1850 - Addition of flour mills, a wharf, the distillery, storehouses, an ice house, a cooper shop and a dairy.
1859 - construction of the new Gooderham and Worts Distillery on Mill Street east of Parliament
1869 - a huge fire destroyed the wooded interior of the main building but left the grey limestone exterior intact.
1957 - Gooderham & Worts stopped producing rye whiskey. It concentrated instead on the distilling of rum products.
1990 - after 153 years of continuous production, the Distillery became the number one film location in Canada, and the second largest film location outside of Hollywood.
2001 - Cityscape Holdings Inc. and Dundee Realty Corporation purchased The Distillery
2003 - The Distillery was officially reopened, thereby implementing an ambitious plan by the owners to create a pedestrian only village; entirely dedicated to arts, culture and entertainment.

HOOKAH RENTALS

Check MAP OF THE DISTRICT below - the stage and hookah vendor is located below "the paint shop" on the map.

You need to make sure there is someone performing on the stage that night, the people supplying the Hookah's and shisha/sheesha attend these nights providing the hookah services with over 20 types of flavoured tobacco to the crowd listening to the Jazz/cuban-fusion/blues/BigBand/etc music. You can only smoke outside near the stage in the courtyard and they rent you the hookah for your duration of the bands performace which lasts from about 4PM to 11:30PM or all day, depending on the event. Extra tobacco rocks cost $20 for 2.

Saturday Night's the night I usually go, the patio is packed with people drinking beer, listening to the bands, and few people smoking the hookah(s). The age range varies from 22 to 65+ - lots of people go out for dinner in the distillery then sit outside for drinks, socialize and listen to good music. My friends and I on the other hand, I eat at home and come down to the distillery for pre-cocktail cocktails (meaning drinking before pre-drinking), get hammered then go to a club or bar downtown after 6 pitchers of Mill Street Organic.

We had a walking city tour through China town, the financial district and streets full of second hand vintage shops. Yesterday we went to the distillery district and saw some amazing art galleries and listened to some jazz. We then partied the night away and had the experience of the 3am street car ride. We then… Visitig jelana

We then walked around part of the old town, Distillery Historical District, which is now a bunch of independent stores and kept that way (no chain stores allowed). It is also pleasant because there are still the old brick buildings and cobblestone streets.  We were also fortunate to have another festival… First Full Day

On Saturday we went to the Distillery Historic District on the east side of town, which was really nice with lots of galleries and cool shops, and brides & grooms having their wedding pictures... Then I gave in and we saw the Simpsons movie at the cinema (payback for Hairspray) but it was quite… Week 3
