Battle Barrier Jul 11, 2012
The Devil's Den is a battle field barrier made of large boulders used by the union soldiers; it marked the far left of the union lines and was used by Brigadier General Hobart and his 2,200 men.

At the devil's den the union soldiers battled some over 5,500 confederate soldiers. It is recorded that at this line the union soldiers suffered about 820 causalities while the confederates lost about 1800, big difference considering the unionists were few in number to begin with.

It is sad learning about the loss, but more so walking the field were lots of lives were lost.
