A very nice trip to the jungle! Oct 10, 2009
The Dallas World Aquarium is a great place to go if you like exotic nature or if you are travelling with children. It's very conveniently located in Dallas downtown. The price is average, but you really get what you pay for.

The Aquarium is divided in three main sections: Orinoco Rainforest, Mundo Maya and the Aquarium. The Orinoco rainforest is a great adaptation of the Venezuelan jungle with many exotic animals including crocodiles, toucans and a lovely sloth (he is not very active, though, therefore his name lol).

The second section, and probably the one I liked the most was the Mundo Maya. They had an amazing performance of ancient mayan dances and burning of copal (the native american inciense). After that, they had children release Monarch Butterflies into the jungle. The whole place had a great Yucatan vibe, i really felt like in some of those wild life parks in the Cancun area.

The last section is the Aquarium itself, where you can obviously see a great variery of fish and sealife. The ones that impressed me the most were the dragon fish. Never seen such an amorphous fish before!

They also have an amazing restaurant, I ordered a ceviche, and it was probably the best I've ever had.

Overall it was a great tour, and definitively recommended for anyone.

Fun inside Jul 03, 2008
This is a great place to spend one of those afternoons in Dallas. It is a great place for young or old. I really enjoyed the S African section as I was getting ready to go there. There are a number of Gift Shops located throughout including the aquarium, the Jungle Cafe and near admissions. Various children's toys, books, jewelry and souvenir items such as hats, tee-shirts, postcards and pens are available. You can enjoy a dish of ice cream while visiting the outdoor Garden Shop in the Cape of Good Hope exhibit, but it is only open in the summer.

There are various places to eat, but we didn't know this before we went so we ate first. They also have banquet facilities for large or small groups.

The admission price was fair. They do offer discounts for children and seniors. Don't be surprised when you pay and think that they have charged you too much, they don't include the tax in the posted price. Still a good deal for about $20
