Good seafood & Service - A Little Loud & Touristy Apr 22, 2011
Stumbled upon The Crazy Lobster on an evening promenade along the New Orleans Riverwalk. It's located right on the edge of the Mississippi River across from where the steamboats dock at the corner of Canal and Poydras Streets.

There are lots of outdoor tables and indoor seating too. The menu is pretty much all seafood with some traditional New Orleans cuisine: Gumbo, Po Boys, jambalaya, gator, lobster, crab, crawfish, shrimp, etc. Lots of liquor offerings too, all served in plastic cups, which seems to be common in NOLA.

Entrees range from about $15 up to $35 and drinks aren't cheap either. The service was excellent and friendly, but the atmosphere is like a loud, seafood sports bar with a live band that sets up just outside. The giant lobster and crawfish statues out front pretty much say all that needs to be said.

You can have a fun time here, but don't expect "fine dining". It's an open-air, seafood party bar on the riverfront.

good place for steamed seafood Jul 02, 2008
Seafood lovers will go crazy in this place. My hubby loved it. He ordered the steamed seafood bucket for one person, wore a bib and enjoyed the meal a lot. I had Cajun Jambalaya which to my taste was a little dry. That's one of the reasons why I rated this place average. The other thing that was a little over the top was the volume of the live band that played outside on the patio. Our waiter was very nice though. Checked by several times to refill our drinks and bring a new bucket for the lobster fest and extra napkins. Other then that you have a nice view over the Mississippi which I think is included in the price. ;)
