Another of Goa's many Christian Portuguese highlights! Nov 05, 2012
One of Goa's many architectural and Christian highlights, the Church of St. Assisi is one of the better preserved churches in town. Yon can read the history about the place here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Church_of_St._Francis_of_Assisi

What I particularly loved was how well a lot of the inside d├ęcor has been preserved. A lot of it reminded me of churches I've seen in Spain and Mexico. You don't need more than 30 minutes here, although it is quite the tourist trap. So those looking for a quiet prayer, brace yourselves for a lot of camera flashes, and the odd Russian voice requesting someone to click their snap!

I am amused by the notion of "Christian highlights"...but I guess that is because my culture is so steeped in the tradition...
