Highly Recommended Feb 20, 2011
Hotel and they also have a hostel so this accommodation suites all budgets, requirements and privacy/ socializing level. So many options from just a bed to a whole apartment. Great service, amenities, activities & clean and stylish too! Ethical and green policy - they use natural and organic produce - I don't think you can ask for more!

Friendly hostel with little luxuries Jun 20, 2011
Stayed here with a group of friends for a weekend in March. The guys on reception were super friendly and they have incredible facilities for a hostel, incredible breakfast, free tours around the city which is a must! We met loads of people at the hostel that joined us over the weekend. Really funky, would definitely recommend everyone going to Berlin to stay here and try out some curry wurst across the street!

The best hostel in the city Jul 16, 2011
This is a great Hostel in Berlin. Very good price, in front of a subway station. It looks good and has a nice staff. Has a bar in the lower floor and also some restaurants in the neighborhood. I was there 2 times and both were great.

Great hostel! Dec 28, 2007
This is the first tiem I ever tried staying in a hostel and I had a really great experience!

I planned to come to Berlin to spend NYE there with my schoolmates and there are so many of us planning over emails. I am the only one from a different course (Masters in Finance) as they are all MBAs so I guess when they arranged for accommodation they forgot to include me. I already booked my flight and just learned about this mishap a few days before we left for Berlin. So what I did is try to book a hotel for me and just meet them in Berlin when we go around or go out.

My classmate told me about Circus hotel nd he said it's centrally located and a good hostel. I'm very very apprehensive about this but I really have not much option as most of the hotels were already booked or too expensive to book a single room. So I tried checking this out esp bec I dont really have time nor much option! I dread sharing the room with stranger and more so bec the only available one is a quintet sharing room and I would have to share the bathrooms too!!!

My nightmare isn't over yet bec I was just to find out later that not only am I sharing it with 4 more people but sharing the room with 3 males!!!! OMG!!! i felt suddenly thrown into prison and felt very uneasy already! I don't have a brother and I'm from a very conservative catholic country and this is really(!) way out my comfort zone.

However, the other girl happens to be asian too, from Japan and she has been traveling europe ALL BY HERSELF and spent already a few days with all these men and just her the only girl so I take comfort with teh idea of having another girl in the room and took the challenge that if she can do it, SO CAN I! In all fairness, the guys seem nice and don't do anything taht make me feel like my personal space or whatever is being crossed..but it's of course me! I'm just not used to this! But again, my competitive side wouldnt want to accept defeat that other asian girls can do and I cant..:P

The next day that the girl was leaving, I would want to make her stay!!! PLEASE STAY!!! I scream in my head but I am just there trying to act cool about the situation when I'm already panicking inside!

This just happens to ebe the turning point of my hostel experience! Truly, you can't believe how a seemingly bad situation turns out be so great! :)

Since I am staying in the room with these guys..of course I can't ignore them and we started talking with each other. I joined them in a group walk tour and they were nice enough to let me tag along with them :P They are Irish and way taller than me esp Bernard :) I feel like I have 2 burly bodyguards with me. :) It was a pleasant walk with them and we also check museums together and somehow started to become buddies. We room where it's pitch black dark which is suppose to make you experience how it is to be in the situation of Jewish people staying in concentration camps...very cold, very dark, very alone..it's like being dead and very very scary. Bernard saw me scared to go in and he said he'll come with me so i won't be scared. That was nice of hime and so I got to experience that bec of him..otherwise, I wouldnt have checked it out by myself..i might get hysterical inside esp when I couldnt find my way out!

We also went for night outs and ultimately chose to spend NYE with them instead of my schoolmates bec I enjoy their company more besides it being convenient compared to meeting my schoolmates first somewhere!

Staying in a hostel made me come out of my comfort zone and my shell to take that chance to meet and get to know great new friends. I would have missed that chance if my schoolmates didnt mess up with my accommodation. So things went graet and probably even better than it could have been.

After several days of hanging out together, they seem to get attached to me prob bec all those time they felt like being responsible/taking care of a little girl and so when my new Irish friends were about to say goodbye..they were very very sad to leave. They wish they could stay with me more! They gave me some small mementos, a CD, etc..and they hugged me very tightly and their faces look really sad. Bernard even sent me a message before the plane took off asking if i'm missing them already and that they miss me...awww! So sweet! They are like big teddy bears! They were the first Irish people I met and with my experience with them, I now LOVE Irish people! :) i felt like having 2 big brothers with me and felt really safe with them even when we go to some seemingly dodgy places/bars which are a bit dark and have some "punks" and there are so many graffiti and some weird girls who are evidently "high" and were asking for some weeds from us..I wouldn't have experienced this. It's so funny bec I guess my classmates/friends in London wouldnt have expected me to as well bec when I posted a picture of the walls in a seemingly abandoned building full of graffiti, one of my part German/part Israeli friend asked me where it was. he must have been so shocked I've been able to survive going to such a place :P Little did he know that I have 2 big angels with me to keep me safe :)

This is a very special experience and memory that I will always cherish :) Thank you Circus hostel for making that happen...for bringing good people together and let them discover new great friends :)

Has to be one of the best Hostels in Europe and I've stayed at plenty of them. The colors are bright and cheerful, the rooms are nice. There’s a bar in the basement and a café on the ground level, and at least when I was there last, a kebab stand across the street.

It doesn't have the "homey" feel of some other hostels, but Berlin isn't a homey city anyway. The Circus is clean and modern and very upscale -- for a hostel that is!
