The church is over 800 years old, and one of Trondheims oldest Buildings. In the Middle Age it was dedicated to Virgin Maria. The tower and the western part were buildt in the 16th and 17th century, but the eastern part is identic with the Middle Ages Maria Church from the end of the 11th century. Vår Frue Kirke- The Church of our Lady is located about 100 meters from the main market place. The churce celebrates its 800th anniversery this year. And beacaus of the anniversery the church has been redecorated and will be reopened in November this year. The church is used for concerts of all kind, and in during the school year the music students at NTNU use the church to give free conserts every Saturday at 2.00 am. The church is also used as a warming chelter in fall, winter and spring for people who needs it. Last Christmas there was served food for people who needed a place to go on Christmaseve. |
