The Cathedral of Saint Paul Reviews
National Shrine of the Apostle Paul, and Religious Attraction in Saint Paul Apr 22, 2011
Located at the intersection of Summit avenue and Selby avenue, the Cathedral of Saint Paul is on a high bluff overlooking downtown Saint Paul. It is the one religious attraction I looked forward to visiting when I planned my trip to Minnesota. Born catholic, I have had a fascination with catholic churches, particularly cathedrals. the architecture and style always spoke of the laborious nature of work put into it. The whole idea of building a temple and an altar for the almighty God. People slaved for years to put up the best of what could be at the time.
It was a gloomy, rainy, gray and cold day in Saint Paul when Travbuddy Alyssa (alyssa_ob), picked me up after noon for a tour. She mentioned the church was in service from noon till 1:00 pm, so we would start with something other than the cathedral. So we stopped for coffee and pizza. We had so much fun that we forgot that at 3:00 pm, another service was due to start at the cathedral. The rain decided it was time to come down too. We decided to do a quick tour of the exterior and perhaps see the interior on the inbound. Well that never happened. The outside of the cathedral is impressive nonetheless. The designed was by architect Emmanuel Louis Masqueray, the same architect who designed the basilica of Saint Mary.
PS: Why leave for tomorrow what you can accomplish today?
