The Cathedral of Bern Reviews
Please do indeed judge a book by its cover! Sep 16, 2013
There's so much to love about Berne - I was just thinking to myself that after Firenze and Bruges, this is probably one of the prettiest towns in the continent that I've ever seen. And, to those of us who've scoured through travel books trying to get the right picture of what this place is all about - it's more than just the colourful fountains, or the colourful UNESCO World Heritage Altstadt, or the birthplace of Einstein. The one image that will never escape me, and one of the reasons that drew me to this town is of the front façade of the Munster.
The Munster isn't on the main street but runs very closely to it. To be honest, I thought it would've been easier to find. Oh well! You have to walk through a fairly narrow corridor that's got houses and lots of graffiti and that opens up into the square.
The muster is TALL, make no mistake. And I'm told that if one goes inside, one can go all the way up the spire for stunning views of the entire town. Sadly, the cathedral was closed by the time I got there (past 5pm) and as a result couldn't wander inside.
