Be a rebel, get an entire town built in your name! Jun 06, 2017
You heard it! That's the story of St. Albans. A good bloke who lived life worshipping the Roman Gods until he gave refuge to a Christian priest who was fleeing persecution. Through this priest, he learnt all about Christianity and started practising it.

Happy ending? Not really! When the authorities discovered that he was giving refuge to the priest, he and the priest exchanged clothes, the priest fled and poor Alban was dragged to court where he was punished severely. Despite the flogging, he wouldn't forsake his Christian faith, and so was finally executed (dragged across town and across a lake and hill and his head was cut off there).

The church today stands as a testament of one of the UK's premier Christian churches. Several people visit to pay respect to St. Albans. You see his grave, as well as the grave of the Roman priest he saved.

Every year there's a festival in this town, the props of which are stored in this church and makes for some interesting viewing.

All in all, I'd highly recommend this church. One of the most informative stories that go along with it.
