The Castleton, Paddington London Reviews
`Cute & perfectly positioned little hotel´ Aug 28, 2011
The Castleton Hotel´s best attribute is it´s location. It´s conveniently close to Paddington Station and an assortment of shops, bars and eateries.
I read through many accommodation types and reviews when it came to selecting a place to stay on my recent trip to London. Having stayed previously in another hotel on Sussex Gardens (which was extremely disappointing), I was a bit dubious about all the hotels in this part of town. But the reviews overall for Castleton Hotel were favourable. Thus I decided to book it.
The staff were friendly, welcoming and courteous. Always saying hello and goodbye/night. That is always a nice start or end to the day.
The hotel on appearance was tidy (except for the elevator floor). And the foyer/entrance was neat and presentable.
I had read that the rooms and bathrooms were rather small. This was an understatement. And the only real disappointment in the whole experience. Hardly had room to swing a cat (as the expression goes)! But previous reviews stated this. So I was expecting to deal with this all the same.
There was breakfast included. It was standard cereal, toast, eggs (scrambled or fried), bacon and juice or tea/cofee. All you really need. But I only ate once during my 4 night stay. The breakfast room was very small and compact. It was 2 floors under ground. And there were no windows or views. A touch disappointing. Added to that the eating hours were between 7-9am. Which while your travelling can be a bit early. Just one hour more would´ve been more traveller friendly. But these are very minute negatives.
Apart from that, I had a pleasant stay. And would return without hesitation. Great price!
