The Castle Steps Hotel Prague Reviews
Great Location, Great Accommodation Apr 19, 2014
Our hotel was aptly named the Castle Steps, which is at the foot of the steps leading up to the castle. What was great about the location is that the tourist trail that snakes up the street from across Charles Bridge makes a turn to the castle about two blocks before your hotel. Which leaves you on a perfectly peaceful and quiet street, overlooking Petrin Park and the monastery. If you get up early, you can have the castle all to yourself.
We asked to be met at the airport and even though the flight was almost an hour late arriving, the English speaking driver was waiting for us and the cost was no more than we had originally been quoted. (€22).
When we arrived we were met by an American (there seemed to be quite a few who run this establishment). She was very helpful and gave us a map and explained that they no longer provide Vegan breakfasts as these were not cost effective. She did however recommend the Bohemian Bagel which was just a short walk down the hill and they provided full American breakfasts that kept you going all day.
I had originally booked the Sycamore Studio but due to a mix-up with the booking I was upgraded to the Aspen Apartment. The apartment was lovely, a very large living room with antique furniture (not just old rubbishy bits that some would call antique), we wanted some architectural flair, and it certainly had that - lovely arched ceilings. (If in Prague, you do not want to end up in a modern apartment.) Free use of a mobile phone, large flat screen TV etc.
There was a small kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher but as food is so cheap we did not use the kitchen other than for morning coffee. Plenty of hot water in the bathroom and the towels were changed every day.
The bed was comfortable and once we had figured out the central heating, the apartment was very warm.
We had requested a transfer back to the airport and the driver was waiting for us right outside the apartment. As there wasn't anyone booking in after us they said we could stay FOC until mid afternoon which was really convenient.
I would certainly stay at the Castle Steps again, it was in a lovely location even though the hill was a bit steep after walking around all day. The service was first class.
