The Cape Borda Lighthouse Jun 07, 2008
Kangaroo Island is the third largest off the Australian coast. Its waters can be treacherous by the 'roaring forties' trade winds. The Cape Borda Lighthouse was built in 1858 to guide sailing ships arriving off those winds.

This lighthouse is open from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and offers daily tours. Included is the daily firing of a restored signal cannon on the 12:30 tour. Nearby is a light keepers cemetery which offers insight to the hardships and isolation of the lighthouse keepers and their families.
