We left the city of Galway with the sun shining behind us.  As we drove along the western edge of Ireland, the terrain started to get more rocky and less green...this was when we knew we were close to our destination.  We were headed to the Burren, called so because of the rocky landscape and lack of vegetation.  There wasn't a tree in sight, and we waved goodbye to anything green as we hiked into the Burren.  The whole place just had an eerie aura about it, and as we ente...

Back on the bus, the road from Doolin to Galway proved to be extremely vomit inducing. One of the ladies in next to us turned green very quickly and puked in a ziploc bag provided by Mary. This led to a lot of shouting in Irish between our tour guides, something about "ish-ka!" As Edmund stepped outside with the lady, Brian turned around to Kris and me and explained that uisce meant "water" and uisce beatha (pronounced ish-ka bah) meant "water of life." The Burren is a different and unique place to see. You may not have even known it was there or what it was unless you did any kind of research. The lunar-like landscape is in County Clare and its surely one of Ireland’s great attractions. The apparent bareness once had a forest but settlers to the area in the medieval times grazed their cattle and timbered the trees to the land was a skeletal landscape.
