Good hostel with a great location Jan 04, 2009
I stayed there during my new year stay in Amsterdam. The hostel has a great location on the bank of a canal, close to Dam Square. Despite it's centrally located, there is no noise coming from the surrounding even in new year !
Many facilities are available, like : - Bar, snacks - 24 hours reception - Lockers in the rooms (bring your padlock or buy one for 5 Euro) - Linen provided except the towels. - Pool table, board games, wii.... - Laundry - Lift The rooms are spacious and pretty clean and have en suite (toilet and shower separated). I stayed in 8 beds dorm. They cleaned it everyday. The only annoying thing was the hand dryer close to the entrance door, so each time someone pass near it it turned on and woke the whole room !! The staff was not the friendliest but fine. |

decent hostel, decent price, great location Nov 06, 2009
This hostel is in a great location in Amsterdam. It is in the red light district, so plan accordingly.
The security was pretty good, they had bouncers at the door and you had to show your pass. The rooms were fairly nice and they have an in-house bar. I'd probably stay there again. |

The Bulldog was an excellent place to stay. We stayed in Amsterdam for several days between Christmas and New Years. There are tall standing lockers for each bunk and each bed has an individual light above so you don't have to disturb everyone else in the room getting up in the morning. We stayed in a room with 8 other people and had no problems. It was very clean. We even went back after a terrible stay at another hostel in Amsterdam and got a single room (it's a hotel room so we had two beds, a tv, and our own bathroom). The staff is incredibly friendly and security is pretty high even though it's attached to a coffee shop (there's a camera outside the front door and you have to flash your room key in order to get in to the hostel part). I would definitely stay here again.

Jan 28, 2007The Bulldog Company in Amsterdam is a chain of hostels and coffee shops in the city. The Bulldog Hostel which we stayed at is located in the Red Light District on the main canal – so right in the centre of it all!! It’s in easy walking distant of the Dam Square, 10 mins walk from central station and a short tram ride to the museum district. We arrived at this hostel after spending 3 days at a festival called Dance Valley and then spending the whole day at a reggae festival called 2sevens Splash, were soooo pleased to actually have a bed to sleep in. the rooms themselves resemble the rooms in the English version of Big Brother – they’re nicely decorated, really clean, our room had two separate bathrooms which was a plus and there’s a roof terrace that’s open in the summer. This is the best hostel I’ve ever stayed at, everything was nice and modern and there was an all you can eat breakfast buffet which delicious Dutch cheeses and bread mmm and u can make a packed lunch as well! The hostel is joined to a coffee shop downstairs where you can buy snacks and joints, which is really handy! if want want to stay here in summer months you should definantly book as early as possibly as this hostel is in high demand |

We had a direct flight to Amsterdam from Chicago via KLM. The flight, being only my third and the longest so far, was not bad despite being 7 and a half hours long. It was pretty quiet and as comfortable as it could be for being coach... and at…Bulldog Cafe! Please note that the following was not the sole purpose of my trip, but it was pretty high up on my list!!
Bulldog has many cafes throughout the city... there are three in a row down one stretch of street in the Redlight… Arrival and First Morning |

We were up fairly early this morning as we were driving to Amsterdam. The drive was quite short, only a few hours. We arrived in Amsterdam around 11am and the sun was shining. The first thing Bree and I wanted to do was go to an internet…bulldog cafe with Ryan, Liz and Julia. We had a look at the menu and decided on a "two of a kind". This is definitely something you have to try when in Amsterdam. Even if you are not interested in that sort of thing… Contiki Day 2 - Brussels to Amsterdam |

Feb 10, 2006
After the shortest flight in history (a mere 25 minutes in the sky, during which a Cabin Crew member literally ran down the ailse, asking 'Drink?, Drink?,.... Drink?' clearly hoping no-one would want one) we began our decent in…Bulldogs chain....plus various smaller coffeeshops surrounding Dam Square, but we remained true to The Cashmere Lounge - highly recommended to anyone lucky enough to visit!.
To say we over-did it on that first day would probably be a vast under-statement, and If I remember… 'Can you please tell me where the nearest Coffee Shop is.... ?!?!' |

As it's my first blog I thought what better place to write about than Amsterdam, the infamous city of hedonism & debauchery!
For my first (of 3) visits I travelled from London to meet 3 mates who flew from New Zealand. Craig,…Bulldog Palace for the local delicacies, The Green House for entertainment and The Grasshopper for entertainment and the local finery.
If you plan to visit to Amsterdam take a very open liberal mind and enjoy!!!
