A Dependable Breakfast in Houston Sep 04, 2009
I love a good breakfast. If you are visiting Houston, one reliable breakfast venue is the Buffalo Grille. Founded in 1984, this restaurant is a Houston institution. While breakfast, lunch and dinner are all available, breakfast is what draws the crowds.
With a diverse menu from Tex-Mex specialities like huevos rancheros, huevos burritos or huevos con chorizo; southern U.S. specialities like biscuits and gravy, grits or cheese grits (like in the movie "My Cousin Vinny"); or, foods like French toast or hot cakes, the Buffalo Grille offers a large choice. My personal favorite is the pancakes, which are enormous and resemble the size of a smaller pizza. Pancake fillers include strawberry, blueberry, banana, peach, pecan or chocolate chip. Served with a cup of cinnamon coffee, this breakfast meal is delicious. Prices for breakfast range around ten dollars for a meal, juice and coffee. The Buffalo Grille has two locations, but I prefer the original location on Bissonnet, as the crowd is more eclectic. Anyone from neighborhood locals to workers in scrubs at the nearby Texas Medical Center to students from Rice University will be in line. One downside to Buffalo Grille is the crowds. Go early or a line will be out the door. Finally, for those who can eat breakfast anytime, breakfast is also available all day. |
