Waterfront arts festival May 13, 2012
The Boston Arts Festival is a weekend long celebration of both visual and performance art in Christopher Columbus Park. The festival features over 60 juried artists from Boston and a performance program on 2 stages showcasing Boston’s best performing arts groups and performers. Enjoying music, dance, and original works of art along the waterfront is a fantastic way to spend a fall day in the city. The festival also includes an artists’ village showcasing original items available for purchase. Jewelry, pottery, paintings, clothing, etc. - something for just about every taste and budget. I added a necklace and two pairs of earrings made from recycled glass to my jewelry box, paying no more than $10 or $12 for each. It was also really nice to be able to speak to the artist directly and learn more about what inspires him/her to create and what challenges he/she faces in crafting each piece.

The 2012 festival takes place September 7-9. Christopher Columbus Park is located on the edge of the North End close to the Marriott Long Wharf Hotel and the New England Aquarium. Closest T subway stop is the Aquarium on the Blue Line. The Haymarket stop (Orange and Green Lines) is a relatively short walk away.
