The Bold Arms Southport Reviews
Little Village Pub Mar 20, 2011
Thought I would write a review on my local village pub.
Set in the heart of Churchtown village amongst the picturesque thatched cottages the pub dates back to the 17th Century and possibly well before that, though no records can be found. At the rear of the building what would have been the stables way back when now house the barrels of beer/lager. The furnishing are simple village pub standard, old wooden chairs and tables and thick carpets and curtains.
My family and I frequently eat here as there are always amazing offers on the menu and the food is quickly prepared and served. Steaks have always been cooked to perfection when ordered.
Two main courses from a selected list for 10.00.
Grill night on a Tuesday 5pm - 9pm with selected choices for 6.49 including a drink.
Curry night on a Thursday (same times) again selected choices for the same price of 6.49 including a drink.
Sunday roast (either beef or chicken) 5.49 or two eat for 10 pounds.
There is also a wide selection of puddings, I have to confess I have tried every one on the menu (Lemon Meringue Pie, Apple Pie, Rhubarb Crumble, Choc Fudge cake, Profiteroles or my fave which is the New York Cheesecake!!) all under 5 pounds.
The pub has a friendly atmosphere where locals mix with out of towners. The pub is also family friendly and children are welcome upto 8.30pm (in the family room.)
