The Blue Lagoon Oct 10, 2010
located near the international airport of iceland at keflavik, the blue lagoon or bláa lónið is one of the most famous attractions in iceland.

a very expensive (for me) geothermal spa, the price is a staggering 30 euros for adult entrance. plus if you dont have a towel/swim gear or bathrobes. they cost 5 and 9 euros approximately. it has one of the safest and high tech locker rooms, with infrared keys/bracelet which can also act as sort-of "credit card" for it will charge anything like drinks/food inside the blue lagoon and it will compute the charges once you return the bracelet.

the blue lagoon is not only for bathing, in the middle of the lagoon lies the lagoon bar - the cheapest drinks cost 5 euros, a waterfall, a sauna and some random places where silica mud converges and you can indulge yourself mudpacking for as long as you like.

the water of blue lagoon comes from geothermal springs which produces power but the water contains minerals such as silica and sulfur which gives the water its unusual blue color. the temperature of the water unbelievably stays at 37-39°c all year round for which bathing in freezing winter is possible.

if you come from reykjavik, the buses that go to the blue lagoon is at BSI bus terminal, you can avail of a package of the entrance to the lagoon and round trip ticket from the bus at around 50 euros.
