The Bell House (music venue) Jul 14, 2009
I am very enthusiastic about this place for multiple reasons, some stupid, some legitimate, and lucky for you, my poor unfortunate reader, I will share all of them :P.

First up, this is a cool place that is actually NEAR to where I live, a place that is only 10 min. away on the train from me! I can stay out til 2:30AM and can get home before 3PM? Only a couple stops, I'm sold.

Second, an actual real reason to like this place for ppl who don't live in the neighb and have to schlepp here: get yourself on the list by calling up and you will only have to pay $1 as entrance fee! For those w/o foresight or last min. planners, you'll only have to pay $5.

Third, it's spacious, it's Bklyn after all, rents are cheaper, and the Bellhouse is housed in a former warehouse. Hmm how else can I repeat house, oh yeah, it's near my house :D. There's a sizeable bar in the front, a loungey area to socialize, then a fairly big back room which also outfits as a music venue. Wilco performed there recently, as do other up and coming bands, and established bands.

Fourth, their dance parties are lotsa fun, the scene is comprised of hipsters, scenesters, goths, punks mostly but everyone is friendly, not a pretentious air at all. The music is trancey, Euro, and alterna-club like, everything is danceable. There's a table with parts of costumes if you are into that, fake blood, and glitter. Warning, there are sometimes over-enthusiastic girls surprise-attacking you with glitter, not great if you have to work the next day, or want to avoid broadcasting your nightlife activities. There's also a live dance act teaching/performing cheesy dances, and sometimes there are girls who will play double dutch in the corner, not sure why.

People WILL grab you to dance or randomly hand you night glow sticks, sort of a rave-like touch to the place, so come and enjoy!
