The Bear Brighton Reviews
One of the better pubs in Brighton! Dont miss it! Feb 07, 2011
The bear is one of my favourite pubs in Brighton because it’s my local!
The pub itself attracts a mix of students and working professionals, plus some Lewes road locals and follows traditional pub principles, rather than trying for gimmicks or chic tactics.
This makes it a great place to get away from the party night of Brighton and have a proper no nonsense pub night out. The tables and area partitions are all dark wood and everything is very pubby in appearance.
They have a dart board hung and a selection of board games if you want to pass a quieter night to jenga or suchlike, have a small pool table on the other side of the bar and have loads of different nights advertised including karaoke, football nights and Sunday night bingo which is a bargain at 50p a game!
You can also take advantage of some pretty good drinks deals and games which offer a drinks voucher as the prize is offered to lure in the punters. They have also gone down the big screen TV for footie fans path and this makes it a good/bad venue on such nights depending on your preference.
They also do great food for excellent prices. If you’re looking for a no frills lunch that wont wreck your wallet but will leave you feeling full up and satisfied, I would highly recommend the Bear!
The garden is quite nice and even though the pub is right in the middle of a busy road area of Brighton, it manages to remain pleasant and insulated form the street.
The land lady and Barman is a married couple who are just great and are extremely friendly and welcoming! The Bear is by the far the best pub in the Lewes Road Area!
