The Almond Tree Restaurant Ocho Rios Reviews
Great place and a great meal Apr 26, 2011
The Hibiscus Lodge in Ocho Rios is a quite fancy hotel which was situated just next to the Carleen’s Guest House where we stayed. Reading all the guide book of the area, we quickly identified it as a great place to visit and have a great dinner and we were not disappointed.
The place was quite nice inside, looking like a lodge or a old fashion gentleman’s club inside. We went to the terrace to eat and the place was quite lovely with white furniture and nicely made tables.
The service was impeccable; the restaurant manager Paul Doswald was keen on telling us about the island and where to go; it should be said that we were the only people in the restaurant that evening so we had all the attention. He even gave us some books about the island that we could keep. The head waiter was also a great guy that had designed the shirts they were wearing as waiters; he found the old ones boring and I must say that he had done a great job in designing the new ones.
On top of this we had just a great meal; I had chosen the Jamaican Plantage Rice which contained shrimps, pork, banana, rice, and so on. It was truly both a great dish but also a heavy one. Babs went as usual for the fish and we shared a good bottle of wine to the meal.
The terrace we were sitting at was next to the water and gave you a splendid view over the water and it was really calm to sit there and enjoy the meal. Most of the dinner we had in the dark evening and at this point it was so dark that it was impossible see the water which was only 15 meter below us.
