The Alchemist Manchester Reviews
The Alchemist- smoking cocktails! Apr 16, 2011
The Alchemist is a nice restaurant that does excellent cocktails in the Spinningfields area of Manchester. It has a large bar, with a huge clock and very cool lighting.
The food is lovely. More or less European in theme, there are sandwiches, steak frites, fish and chips and pastas. Prices are very reasonable for such a fashionable looking menu. There is a good range of beers and wines, but the real highlight is the cocktails.
The cocktails are great. This is where the alchemy theme kicks in. Whisky Old Fashioned is served in chemical flasks, smoking from dry ice and mixed with maple syrup. There are daiquiris served with lavender foam, and a passion fruit martini served with a meringue topping – not crumbled meringue, but a fresh one like you’d find on the top of lemon meringue pie. These aren’t cheap, at £7-£8 each, but they are fun and a great treat.
Service was good. You will need to pre book at weekends, and there are bouncers
