The 6 arms Travel Reviews

Jun 09, 2007
What could possibly be better than 2 arms? 4 I suppose, then you'd be like spiderman, but even better than 4, would be six. The six arms is the northern most outpost of the McMenamins' brewery empire. If you've never heard of them, well, you probably don't live in Oregon, but they produce a pretty decent variety of microbrews and their pubs offer a different sort of flavour than your average local dive. This one, of course, is no different. One really should just go in here for the fries alone (they're to die for) but the iron working, local décor (like the signs saying "whose streets? our streets", hopefully still there, reminents of the WTO protests that went down not more than 4 blocks from their front door), decent service and just generally coolness of this pub is worth a visit (did I mention the cool chandeliers? tres cool). Its one of my favorite spots to grab a beer (hammerhead) in the late afternoon on a sunday, take the Seattle PI and just chill, beer in hand, fries with far too much vinegar and while away a few hours. Lately they added a "piped off" bar section so that they could serve more hardcore adult beverages and while that took some getting used to, its still a interesting, funky place to enjoy a pint in. If I were going to spend a long weekend in seattle, I'd add this stop in just to check out the nightlife. Get a table (2 person iron tables are on the balcony overlooking the bar) in the balcony and just watch the people going in and out, chatting each other up and have a good pint and something off the menu. Most things are standard pub fare although I'd say of a bit higher quality.

jwilsonwsu says: Bumbershoot is a mixture of entertainment. Expect everything when you come to this major event held at the Seattle Center during Labor Day Weekend. When I say everything I mean music, film, comedy, spoken word, dance, theatre, performance, and visual arts. This event draws some of the biggest names...
chivato says: If you're looking for a pub with 1000 beers on tap, loud brit pop 80s music, a menu with dizzying death defying, heaping plates of salsa goodness then you're in the wrong place. Come here, all ye looking for a good pint. If you don't like beer, umm this review isn't for you, stop reading. Let ...
