More shopping and suffered from some serious chaff from the day before!! Hit the Cu Chi Tunnels and saw how the South Vietnamese hid underground to attack American troops. Also they had a firing range. So I did what anyone would do - get a clip of bullets for an AK-47 (about $60AUD). After that the guards convinced me to drop some bullets in the M60 (chaingun like Jess Ventura had in Predator) and I blew that load in about 5 seconds - very cool. Repeated a little bit of stuff in ...

Sat in Sai Gon airport the day before Xmas eve with tinsel decorations hanging on the walls and I'm listening to the slowest version of The 12 Days of Xmas known to man.  I love Xmas like you wouldn't believe, from late night shopping to the cards from meeting up with friends and family to a damn good roast potato.  And freezing my butt off is all part of the package.  So sat here in a t-shirt and cropped trousers, choosing a cold drink over a hot chocolate, I'm finding it hard...

Ho Chi Minh City has a population of 8 millions who mostly use motobikes as their primary transport.Recent helmet law seems to make people even more frustrated on the street in rush hours, even though there are enough fumes to give everybody wings!

August 29:  OH MY GOD!!!  I just got off the plane and noticed what a nice modern airport HCMC has however, the A/C was either off or very low and killing me.  Alight, time to dig in... I headed to get my visa on arrival which is normally not allowed but I had a pre-approval letter.  I waited for a good 30 minutes before getting on my way.  Once I got my stamps and immigration card done, the city awaited me.  Let me tell you, I was not expecting the humidity here...

I love the cities. The chaos that's bigger than the one in my head sometimes. Crossing the streets in that special way of just walking and everyone will avoid you (if everything works out), being on the back of a motorbike surviving in trafic. The crouded places, but still some of those parks right in the centre of the city. Oases of rest and people walking, jogging, playing badminton. The only thing that gets to my nerves sometimes is; Want to buy a book...hasheeeeshhh. They really say this ...

Only 1 day in Ho Chi Minh (formerly Saigon) is probably not doing it justice but I think we got a bit in.  Our 2 evening meals we ate at the local market just out in the middle of all the hustle and bustle.  Great service and fast and cheap.  Probably some of the best meals we’ve eaten and for around $10-$15 for all 3 of us.  It will be hard to go back to the ol’ meat and 3 veg for dinner back home.  On our one full day in HCM, Lauren went to check out the water...

fruit (countable and uncountable; plural fruits) 1. (botany) The seed-bearing part of a plant, often edible, colourful/colorful and fragrant, produced from a floral ovary after fertilization. 2. (nutrition) Any sweet, edible part of a plant that resembles fruit, even if it does not develop from a floral ovary; also used in a technically imprecise sense for some sweet or sweetish vegetables, such as rhubarb, that resemble a true fruit or are used in cookery as if they were a fruit.

Certainly not as extensive as I would have had it but the best I could do and still have a job when I got home. Four weeks in South-East Asia was once again with Eastern Michigan University, Cambodia was independant with most of the EMU group, then Colin and I split off and joined JenM in the UK.
