Thames, sits at the bottom of the Firth of Thames. It is located on the road that is used by many on their way to the Coramandel Peninsular.

Thames came about during the gold rush with miners flocking to the area by the hundreds. Though mining is no longer conducted in the area, it left an impact which can be seen with a mine being maintained as a museum and many miners cottages dotted around town.

Another early start this morning and Andy and I battled against the traffic to get me to the rendezvous on time. As we pulled up the driver was just finishing up the pick-up and I was lucky to load up. The bus had 10 other people on; 2 British, Tom & Helen, 5 Swedish, 4 German and 1 Korean, Eriko.
