Thames Clippers London Reviews
Thames Clipper Oct 03, 2012
The Thames Clipper service belts up and down the Thames from Embankment, just before Westminster, out to Greenwich and Woolwich. It is transport, rather than a tour, so don’t expect commentary. It’s also more expensive than the tube, and clearly, only travels the river. But it is a much, much more pleasant way to get down to Greenwich than the DLR or buses, especially on a nice day. The service is frequent and for certain destinations (Greenwich from the Tower, for example, or rather bizarrely Greenwich to the O2 at North Greenwich) just as quick and taking the tube would have been.
The boats are pleasant, and have little shops where you can buy crisps and costa coffee, and strangely considering how short the journey, is, wine. There is a small afterdeck where you can get outside, although these can get crowded. Stops are well announced. You can get on and off with a buggy, although I think you would struggle if you were in a wheelchair and it would be worth phoning up and checking. There are discounts if you have certain kinds of Oyster card, although I couldn’t quite work out how that worked, and an all day rover ticket costs just under £15.
