The Palm Garden Hotel in Pattaya wanted 1300 Baht ($43) for a taxi to the Bangkok airport but I arranged one down the street for 800 ($26). The ride took an hour and a quarter and picked me up at the hotel to deliver me to the China Airlines check-in counter. No more busses.
As on …

Today I took another long busride. This time to Bangkok. It started with a big bus in Siem Reap to the border at Poi Pet. After only a short time of waiting and surprisingly enough no extra dollars for "administrative costs" or "overtime" at the customs I was back in Thailand. The change from dusty…

Sitting in Bangkok (BKK - Suvanbhumi) Airport ariting this entry awaiting my connecting flight to Hong Kong. It's a 13-hour layover - too short to go anywhere (even to the airport hotel at $150 US/night) but too long in the grand scheme of things. I haven't updated my journal for the pa…

Although quite rewarding, traveling alone has been tough. I feel like I am not being myself. I am always acting overly assertive, sometimes even to the point of being aggressive. The message I want to send the to those I encounter is that I am a strong woman- so dont dare&nbs…

Chinatown bezocht vandaag.

A stop-over in Bangkok for the TB meet-up and a bit sightseeing in the morning before taking a flight to Phuket.
Stayed at Khaosan Rd in a small room - Sawasdee Bangkok Inn knowing that I'm just there for a few hours as the meet-up lasted until the next morning, just fine for a short sleep to lie …

Today at 5 o'clock in the afternoon, we left the hotel for the trip to Chiang Mai. A small problem with this time of day, it's rush hour and the skytrain and subway are packed. A other problem is, if you're travelling by subway, you have to show your bags to a security guy at the entrance. Ofcource…

Our first day ont he boat was very relaxing. We hung out in the sun, read our books, played ping pong, and explored the boat a bit. Tonight was formal night so I wore my suit and we had our picture taken by the ship photographers. If it's a good shot I'm sure we'll get it and I'll…

After arriving in Bangkok after our 12 hour train ride from Surrathani, we were wrecked. The train journey was just like the last trip, noisy rattly, and not that much sleep. Well we got a little more sleep than we thought we would, but that might be down to the fact that we both had 2 big bottles …

I left the hotel, lit up a cigarette and took a walk down the street. I was looking at all the things the street vendors were selling. I took a final puff of my cigarette and tossed it into the gutter as I crossed the street. I get to the other side when some guy who appears to be dressed as a h…

After breakfast I went with the free Tuktuk of the hotel to Khao San Road. The thai people were setting up there businesses and tuktuk drivers are willing to take you everything. It was for most of the backpackers a little bit early, so it was not very busy. When I a robbed…
