I miss them, not only the beach but the old team. That was the last time that i had a chance to have fun with them. Even though travel with a big group was a fuss but that was the best fuss i have ever had.

Touch Down in Bangkok
posted by:
Aug 12, 2006 - Aug 24, 2006
Nok arrived at 9am and we went to Chinatown. First thing I noticed were the many street food stalls.. they put me off the food that was for sure! Apart from the bags of soda in ice - they were so good! You must get one, they sell them everywhere and are so refreshing. Chinatown is so hectic and busy, we wee having to run across the road between screaming traffic it was madness (but of course fun!)We saw Wat Tremit, with the Buddha made of solid gold, even saw a monk getting changed which Nok …

Arriving in Bangkok
posted by:
Jun 02, 2004 - Jun 04, 2004
We got to bangkok in one piece but I couldn't say the same for my luggage, my borrowed luggage actually.  IT arrived with a corner banged in and some rips and tears but we were on such a time limit I really couldn't complain. We met our friend at the airport and jumped on a train to the central train station. We found out the language barrier was going to be a problem when we didn't know where to stop for the train or that the train would stop. It got to our exit and rolled. Never seemin…

... ha ha just my little joke!Adam's mum Val is here with us for two weeks - we also travelled from Manilla to Bangkok with Miriam too! Val arrived on Saturday evening and we spent 2 nights in Bangkok (24th - 26th). On the first night we went out for some yummy Thai food and a few drinks. One of the bars we went to is a petrol station by day and then it transforms into a really good (but very dangerous!) bar at night complete with candles on the tables and smokers everywhere!!! Val tried her …

Patong, Phuket Island, Thailand
posted by:
Dec 02, 2006 - Dec 14, 2006
2 relaxing weeks in Thailand. I stayed in Patong Beach with its exciting nightlife. Beach was not the best you can find in Thailand, noise because of jet-ski and parasailing, etc... sunbeds and umbrella costs THB 200 for one day. Trips to Phi Phi Islands, and Similan Islands are memorable , there you'll find peaceful white sandy beaches with clear water.

The real adventure of this day started when we were about to leave for Safari World.  During my travels, there are days that I feel sick, not necessarily have a fever, i just feel weak (i call this "my homesickness syndrome).  So it was just normal that I was feeling weak for the past few days..  As we were about to leave the hostel, I show my doctor friend the lesion in my hand that's been bothering me because I saw a  couple of it in my body. I didn't mind it before beca…

I went to Phuket last year and I loved it, so decided to go back again... however I think I would chose Langkawi over phuket next time! Even more westernised that last time I was here, and even more aussies! Its like I havent even left melbourne... apart from the guys in the shops grabbing my hand and asking me to marry them over and over... that doesnt happen at home... SO anyway, I get to patong beach at about 9pm and go out and get some dinner. In true aussie style, i make my first pit s…

Songkran
posted by:
Apr 13, 2006 - May 10, 2006
Songkran is actually the Thai New Year.  Most people know it as the Thai water festival.  Traditionally it's founded on rituals performed during the hot season to help bring on the rainy season...by splashing water all around you will remind the gods that it's time to rain. If the rain starts after Songkran has ended it means everyone did everything right (it also helps that mid-April is the end of the hot season). Nowadays it means filling up barrels of water and soaking anyone an…

Koh Lipe
posted by:
Feb 28, 2008 - Mar 22, 2008
Having checked out the Koh Lipe website we were really looking forward to another taste of paradise and hoped that it would be a glimpse of the Thailand years ago before mass development and the backpacker army (of which we are part, had stomped all over the local culture). Unfortunately that was not to be. We arrived by ferry from Langkawi and perhaps that was a part of the problem. Going from ultra friendly Malaysia may have been a bit unfair. But the attitude of the Koh Lipe islanders to t…

I had been calling Mai a couple of times and now I was going to meet her out. I arrived at the mall early and stood in the entrance to get the air-conditioning. I was wearing a pure white cotton shirt I got in Chaing Mai night market (I didn’t want to sweat on that) jeans and leather shoes. She seemed quite impressed at my effort as here most people walk around in flip-flops and shorts. She was wearing a black top and a pink miniskirt, very Thai very cute. I took her to a Mister Doughnut …

Apple crumble pie was our forever favorite breakfast. J We ridden motorbike around the island as other traveler did.
