$5 cocktails, great prices, yummy food, and an intimate setting Jan 03, 2012
We actually stumbled onto this place! My friend and I were catching up and we were walking down 2nd avenue looking for a good bar to sit at, talk, and catch up. We came across the Thailand Cafe. It is a small venue, but well decorated with super-friendly staff.

We sat at the bar and yes, we were attracted by the sign outside that said $5 cocktails; between the 2 of us, we ordered 5. Then we started getting hungry and worried about whether we'd be able to walk in a straight line, so we ordered wings and calamari. They were good, but they were really, really, really good when you ate them with the sauce that was provided.

The venue is small, but they use the space well and the front of the restaurant is entirely open. There was a perfect breeze on a May evening in NY. It's always so hard to recommend places in NY cause one has soooo many options, but I would recommend this place if you are looking for Thai cuisine and happen to be east of Greenwich village or on the way to Chinatown.
