I flew on Thai Airways from Bangkok to Kathmandu, Nepal in 2007. The flight attendants were very beautiful in their uniforms that were based on traditional Thai costumes. The seats weren't quite as roomy as those on Korean Air. The food was ok, but again I was spoiled by Korean Air.
It was a 3-hour flight, but it turned out to be longer because we circled Kathmandu for over 30 minutes. The pilots weren't trained to fly on instruments and cloud cover was preventing them from getting a good visual of the runway. That was a bit unnerving...how would they handle really bad visibility if they had an emergency? What was even more scary was seeing broken planes in pieces along the runway when we finally landed. Important note: If you get into Bangkok around midnight and don't have a flight until the next morning, look for the guest rooms that are inside the airport. I didn't know about them and had booked a room at the airport hotel (which was wonderful). What I didn't know was that I had to tariff when I went to check in the next day since I have physically left the airport. Part of the Nepal 2008 travel blog |

…Heathrow about 3 hours early for check-in to find out that they could not check us in as we did not have proof on onward travel or a Thai visa. Great, good job we arrived early then! After waiting for an EVA airways rep and finding her distinctly unhelpful, we went across to the Thai airways ticket stand to see if we could buy an onward ticket from there that we could then… And so the journey begins |

I got plane tickets ahead of time, from Thai airways. I won't fly with Phuket air because I don't trust their safety record, and I have heard horrendous stories about the customer service from these airlines. Thai airways got us there on time and with no problems. Based on advice… Getting to Phuket |

We realized we missed out so we rang Aus Embassy, they advised us to go to THai Airways head office and see if we can fly back to Australia from Utapao Navy Base. Headed back down, caught the BTS to Mo Chit. Hailed a taxi to take us to the Thai Airways head office. We got there, explained what was happening… DAY11 - Damnoen Saduak Floating Market |

service..."Sir, you need to drink a glass of juice every 4 hours because
the air is very dry in here." In America ,
you're lucky to get a bag of peanuts and a soda and the kind souls were… No luggage stranded in Thailand with the clothes on my back! |

The listed gate for my connecting flight is only a short distance away at gate C2 and the Thai Airways lounge is right next door. I sigh in relief. Transiting here very often, I know first hand that Bangkok’s airport is one of the largest airports on the planet. To walk from the most distant of gates is approximately… Rolling Thunder |
