i recently found this really funny documentary called Growin' A Beard about the annual Shamrock, Tx St. Patrick's Day Donegal beard contest that has inspired me to start planning a road trip down to the texas panhandle to display my fine hirsute leprechaun-like self. about the only rule to the contest is that you have to shave on jan 1 and show up in shamrock, texas on st. patty's day with a Donegal beard. so this is my beard growth progression.....

Making the most of my time off, I drove to Big Bend National Park and Marfa Texas to see the natural beauty that is, West Texas. Amazingly, I drove 500 miles or 800 kilometers due west and was still in the state of Texas.

Enjoying my job! Detainee Operations in Iraq. It wasn't total enjoyment, but the comradary and the cohesiveness of our unit is something which I will never forget. There are days that go by now, that I really miss it over there, I do truly want to go back, but maybe next time to Afghanistan.

My third trip to the United States, three states in three weeks -- Hawaii, California and Texas -- and familiar faces and places, as well as new ones to remember for always.

4th of July weekend in Texas was a blast! In 3 days I was able to go to Six Flags Fiesta, kayaking, eat DEEELICIOUS BBQ and go to the famous waterpark, Schlitterbahn, AND shoot a gun for the first time!!

Took a last minute trip to Austin. Working for an airline allows me to travel anywhere, whenever. He got a trip to Austin, so I went with him. We got in about five in the evening. Nothing too exicting. Just walked around and had a nice dinner. We crashed out early since we had to get up at 4am. Cant wait to go back and spend more time in Austin. I miss Texas!

The next day we rode the tarantula train in Grapevine,Texas. I thought of this because my father loves trains. We rode the rails from Grapevine to Fort Worth and back. In Fort Worth, we toured the stockyards. We had our pictures taken on a bull. Now we are official a cowboy. LOL! I love Texas!
