One of the great joys of the British Summertime is the hope of catching a food fair. The deal tends to be that you pay three or four pounds to get in, and then you get to see demo cooking, buy amazing food, and, most importantly, score many, many free samples of foods. Today I went to Tewkesbury. It was a very interesting day with lots of shopping and a trip to the Abbey.
The Abbey is a beautiful church which has seen great violence and tragedy. In 1471, after the Battle of Tewkesbury, the defeated Lancastrian soldiers seeking sanctuary in the Church, were massacred by the victorious Yorkists.
