Tettegouche State Park Silver Bay Reviews
Lots of hiking, rocks and waterfalls Aug 13, 2005
Tettegouche State Park is one of the more easily accessible states parks along Highway 61 and the north shore of Lake Superior. The park has a wayside you can pull into and hike the trail out to Shovel Point without an entrance fee. Unless you feel like hiking a few extra miles, it is recommended to drive to the trail heads for the waterfalls.
The Shovel Point trail is the hiking club trail and offers incredible views of the Lake Superior shoreline with arches and Palisade Head. The trail is mostly level until just before the point.
The Cascade Trail is a little tricky to find, but was my favorite hike. The High Falls and Two-Step falls are okay. Those trails have more up and down hiking. The waterfalls are really not that impressive during low water, such as every time I was there. But I've heard they are incredible with the spring meltwater.
The park has a campground, wayside, 4 waterfalls, fishing (inland lake, river and Lake Superior), and 23 miles of hiking trails, including access to the Lake Superior Hiking Trail.
